Where to find your BMW VIN
Five places the VIN is stamped on a modern BMW.
The VIN is in the same handful of places on every BMW: windshield, door jamb, registration, title, and the original build sheet (if you have it).
- Lower windshield
Look through the windshield from outside, lower-driver-side corner. The VIN is etched onto a small plate.
- Driver's door jamb
Open the driver's door — the VIN is on the white sticker on the door jamb or B-pillar.
- Registration document
Your registration shows the full 17-character VIN.
- Title document
Your title shows the VIN — useful when buying a used BMW.
- Engine bay
On most modern BMWs the VIN is also stamped on the strut tower or firewall.
